It would be helpful to fill out your user profile with the your vehicle info so people know how to advise you. As far as the peeling buttons, I have no clue. Maybe try the website PARTS4CHEVYS.COM for part information.
yes you can replace the buttons, most local auto stores should be able to order the units for you. You have to replace the whole unit in the wheel. I think they are 30 bucks or so
The edges of a couple of my buttons were chipped when I bought
my 02 about a year ago. I got a bottle of Black Nail Polish and touched
them up. Worked great, and havent had any more problems with them
since! A lot easier than pulling the steering wheel to replace the
buttons!
These buttons are not that differcult to replace. I did it and it took about 2hrs to do all four, since mine were all peeled and just ugly. If anyone need help please let me know I will be posting some pics of the buttons.
The bottom pair however, is turning out to be an absolute nightmare. I went out and bought a set of small angled top pliers to try and hold the harness in place. Nada. Nothing. Didn't work. I'm truly at a loss.
The last resort besides begging my local dealer to put it in, (which I doubt will work) is to drill a tiny hole through the bottom to slide a toothpick in to hold the harness in place whilst I try to snap the buttons in.
Yes, you are right the bottom ones as I remember were a pain..
I was able to pull out the old one enough in order to release the clip and then
i just pulled out the wires a bit and was able to insert connector and with the force of pushing it back in it clipped itself.
Bumping an old thread but I'm having the same problem... Just replaced the bulbs in the top 2 buttons. After replacing the bottom left bulb and an hour reconnecting it...now it doesn't work at all! Anyone have thoughts on this? Should I try to install another switch?
