Can anyone head me in the right direction?

I have an 03 TB EXT LT with 189XXX miles. I have never had any issues until yesterday when I was entering the freeway at about 50MPH and trying to gain speed. The FWY entrance is curved and at an uphill and I use that on ramp every day to go to work. When my lane merged with the rest of the FWY i felt the car accelerate twice without me stepping on the gas. When I did step on the gas, I got no response. No SES light and no other issues until about 20 miles later when I was on surface streets. I reached a red light and when it turned green my car would not move even though I was stepping on the gas. When it did move it did so sluggishly so I pulled over and call a Tow buddy of ours. Once home and off the flatbead I drove my car around our property: put in in gear in reverse and it seemed fine. I am scared of taking it out on the road without having it seen by a mechanic first, but I'm not sure if I should go straight to the tranny shop or a general mechanic. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Did you have any SES when you experienced the no-go condition?
With your kind of mileage, I would expect that the tranny might need some attention. Has the fluid and filter ever been changed?

If you had no SES set, I would guess it is not an engine issue.

BTW - if you want some real expert advice go G M T N a t i o n . c o m (no spaces). All the experts from here have gone there.

No, I never had any SES. And as far as the trans filter and oil...well that was the one thing that we kept saying, "We'll do it one of these days..." You know how that is? And now I think I'm going to pay for my procrastination. All other maintenance has been done, though.

Thanks for the info on the other site. I will definitely visit. Thanks again!
