Adding an auto start?? Budget ideas

How easy is it to add an auto starter and use the oem panic button as the trigger?

Or is it just easier to add one that has a fob that has keyless entry buttons?

Looking for a budget idea here.

Thanks folks.

PS something a semi mechanical person might be able to handle solo maybe?

The OEM fob transmits to the liftgate module which communicates on the serial data bus to the BCM which in turn honks the horn, etc.

Very difficult to break into that communication chain without advanced knowledge.

The vehicle has a passlock security system, which strongly resists the usual hack attempts at bypassing.

I'm not a pro at this, but I predict the specialists will be amused at the thought of a budget remote start. You might be better off to build a remote control robot to sit in the driver's seat when you're not there, and put a spare key into the ignition and turn it on.

Much easier to add one.

Experience in circuit tracing, testing, and tapping are necessary.

The Autostart AS-2775 and GMDLBP passlock/ doorlock interface can be had for around $100. No bells or whistles. It will do all the functions of the factory RKE and autostart only. It doesnt get more budget then that.

You may need a different bypass though. Your user profile is blank.:(

Roadies robot looks evil. Johnny 5 is a friendly alternative but may wonder away in search of input.

Thanks may03lt, Looks like this is the way to go, just trying to get and auto start and not lose the door lock control. I could care less about the Panic button, thanks what a .38 Special is for. My Older GMC Sierra had an auto start but it was never rigged to work with the power locks, by previous owner.

Oh and I added some vehicle specs if that is what you meant by "blank profile". Thanks again.
