Engine miss

between 1500 and 2000 rpms sometimes engine misses diagnostics said camshaft sensor. Replaced no further codes except coolant temp too low(huh?) which shouldn't affect timing. Mechanic said maybe camshaft or bearings but not doing this all the time. Happens sometimes on level ground, sometimes on hills.

If it's camshaft or bearings, as stated, it will be constant, not just some of the time.

Mechanic should understand that fact, for certain.

How many miles on the truck?

What is your temperature gauge indicating? It should be near or at 210 deg. If it is below 210 by 1 or 2 tics on the gauge, you need to change the thermostat. If the engine is running too cool, the catalytic converter will eventually clog because the computer is making the fuel mixture richer.

A miss can be plugs, ignition coil or bad gas, etc. Don't go changing expensive items before a solid diagnosis is known.

174000 miles temp gauge is at 150 to 155 checked lower hose not hot at all so i'm guessing it's the thermostat not opening. thank you all for your help.

If you have been running with a bad thermostat for a long time, you may want to have the exhaust back pressure checked out.
