gmos-04 gain control

gmos-04 problems. ive got a pioneer avic d3 headunit in my envoy. the gmos-04 gain control i cannot get right. if i turn it up high, i get that annoying alternator whine, if i turn it down low, the sound cuts on and off from the front speakers (lack of voltage?) when i turn up the volume on the deck. cant get it right, and when i get it close, it changes after a week or two. is there another adapter out there that works better? ive got an 03 envoy with the bose system.
another thing that bothers me is when i shut off the vehicle in the middle of a song on my ipod, the song starts over when i restart the vehicle. is that caused by the gmos04 or my steering wheel control interface?

I'm not sure what the problem might be. That's the adapter I'm using - I set it up and it stayed OK.

I don't remember if I could get to the level adjustment screw while the radio was on or if I had to try it - readjust - try it - readjust,...
But you want to have the radio at 3/4 or a little above and adjust the screw to proper sound level for that volume setting.

Also check that the RCA's from the deck are hooked to it correctly - I don't think they had them marked very clearly. Not sure that that would cause the problem you're having but ...???

Maybe the GMOS-04 itself is faulty - if you got it locally, maybe they'll let you try a new one and if it works return the old one??

ground loop isolator might work, but ive tried grounding to a couple different parts of the chassis with even worse whine. ive definately got something wrong with the gmos-04, im gonna order a new one and see if it fixes it. it might be a loose wire in the harness that plugs in to it as well.

Oh crap, you've been dealing with that for a year?

I think I remember something about Pioneers whining being fixed by grounding the rca's.
