I changed my spark plugs and boots, changed the fuel, air and oil filter (along with the oil). The whole time I had my battery disconnected. All these were done over a couple days so the battery was disconnected the whole time. I went to reconnect the battery and got squirted with headlight wiper fluid (which made me jump) so I tried connecting the battery again and the same thing happened but I kept going. Then I noticed the battery was cable was not going on right so I started over and did it right.
I went to use my fob and it did not work, the battery is fine and I tried to reprogram to no avail. Also I tried to use the rear wiper and it did not work.
Could I have wrecked the liftgate thingamajig with the connecting and reconnecting of the battery?
Ive heard of the headlight washers squirting upon reconnect of the battery... on the fancier versions that have the squirters. I think it was only the 1st year or so that had these... (and the japanese versions)
So Ive seen something related to that on here.
There are 2 cautions that may cause forehead injuries :duh:
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Notice: Always turn the ignition OFF when connecting or disconnecting battery cables, battery chargers, or jumper cables. Failing to do so may damage the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or other electronic components.
:undecided I'll try it, I'm here at work - what else do I have to do with the truck.
btw - the truck iss running beatifully, I still want to clean the throttle body - from the front for now.
Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens.
:raspberry
I think my truck is out to get me. As I was disconnecting the battery the headlight washer squirted me again. We'll see what happens when I go out to lunch.
There may be a software update that will solve your problem (there's a bulletin for this concern); you will have to get a new module programmed anyway, so the re-flash may not be a bad idea to try
I relented and took it to the dealer - I don't know my nuts from my eyeballs when it comes to electrical stuff.
We'll see what the damage comes back as. :worried:
I think next time I'm working on the truck, I'll take my chances and leave the battery connected:suicide:
