We have a new batch of OEM Electronic Visco Fan Clutches for $159.00 this is the lowest Price on the Net for the part. We will run this special until Mid January or until we run out, whichever comes first. Shipping is a flat $10.00 within the continental US. You can contact us at 817 886-2521 or via the forum's Private Message system.

Your mechanic may also call it Electronic Fan clutch a Cooling Fan Speed Sensor or Electro-Viscous (EV) Fan Clutch. These terms are describing all the same part.

The fan clutch on the models above is known for high failure rates mostly due to the forces exerted on the wire attachment during the start up of the fan. The fan clutch normally needs to be replaced when the following error codes show P0495, P1481, P1482, P1484. Excessive fan noise is normally also a factor as is increased engine temperature and lower AC performance.

The fan clutches we are selling are made in the US by Behr, the OEM supplier for these clutches to GM. The clutches are the latest engineering version and are the same you can buy at the dealer for about $380. There are several other brands of clutches out there which are manufactured in Korea. While the quality of the Korean clutches is good, they are not set to the same specs decreasing fuel efficiency and increasing noise. You can find the Korean copies for about the same price we are offering the real thing for. The manufacturers of the European copies literally copied the older versions with all it flaws and shortcomings. Why not stay with a brand that car owners and manufacturers have trusted for decades.

Our clutch replaces the following brands and part numbers:

* Platinum #: 2120000
* Dorman #: 622-001
* Hollander #: 326-748
* OE #: 15293048, 15192192, 15116115, 10383029, 25790869

The clutch is the latest revision, part number 25790869.

In certain instances the PCM of your vehicle might need to be reflashed with the latest software. Please check with your dealer or repair shop.

The repair can normally be done by everyone with some mechanical aptitude. Autozone rents out the fan clutch removal wrench that can aid in the repair. A brief set of instructions on how to change the fan clutch can be found here: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_change_a_fan_clutch_on_a_2002_Chevy_Trailblazer_LT
(As usual the disclaimer, these instructions are not our own and have not been verified by a certified mechanic. If you feel uncomfortable with the instructions or the work described within please have the fan clutch replaced by a professional mechanic. We are not responsible for any damage or injury.)

See below for a listing of all applications of the clutch:

I was looking at the auction again and I can only recommend anyone interested in buying the fan clutch in the auction to make sure that it is the latest version of the clutch. We are a Behr distributor and since I have worked for Behr until earlier this year I know that the earlier clutches were failing a lot more often as the flaws of the early versions were addressed in the last revisions.

The person selling the clutch gives the latest GM number for the part, since he is selling an OE GM clutch it might be a good idea to ask him for a picture of the part number label. I can with with no doubt say that the clutches we carry are the part number 25790869 as they were mostly manufactured in April of this year which fits in the production time frame of the part number 25790869.

At $82.50 he is selling the clutches under our cost and the cost for the GM dealers. Most of the time if something sounds too good to be true it is. I am not saying this to make the seller look bad, but to alert you to ask the right questions before you buy.

Fan Clutch TB 2004 LT 4.2 SWB

Hi,

I facing an issue with AC coolin for 5 to 10 minutes every morning. In addition, engine is a bit over heating more than 100 degree Celsuis (more than half on the temp gauge).

Couple of questions:

1. Will these issues be sorted out with the new fan clutch?
2. Do you ship out of the US? If you do what will be the cost to ship to Dubai, UAE?

Thanks

TIA, pricing on the clutch has gone up considerably with our vendor. We are now selling the fan clutch for $176 plus shipping, still somewhere around 50% of the price at the dealer. Supposedly, issues have come up with with some of the aftermarket Korean copies of the clutch and some of the major retailers are now attempting to switch to the Behr branded clutch. If I am not mistaken the aftermarket fan clutches were direct copies of the older versions and some of the flaws of the older OE clutches were copied into the aftermarket clutch. You can find the Behr clutch here:

Roadie,
:thx for advising us about the reliability of this vendor. This is the benefit of having such a great web site and extremely helpful members.:thumbsup::hail:

Yep, sure looks like they cut and pasted from some compatibility chart with the error. You're certainly free to not buy from them if that's a deal-breaker. I usually set my threshold a bit higher. ;)

Just to try to track down the source of this data base error and reduce the cluelessness level of the universe, I Googled for "S15 Envoy" and got almost 7000 hits. :eek:

So whatever interchange data base error it is, has infected a LOT of vendors.

#17 ·
I'm not saying it's a deal breaker by any means and I can tell it's obviously a copy/paste job on the fit chart. I suppose the blame should go to source of his instead. BTW, there is an s15 based Envoy that's why you got hits doing an internet search but it had the 4.3L v6 not the 4.2L I6

#18 ·
I did another Google adding 4.2L and got fewer hits, but still a few. And for some very odd reason this bad data base also calls our engine an "L6" instead of the more typical "I6". At least it doesn't say "V6." :eek:

Anyway, I also see the error is in the Dorman catalog, on this page:

http://www.dormanproducts.com/catalog/OESolutions2006/135-136ElectronicFanClutch.pdf

and I have contacts at Dorman. Maybe they can identify the ultimate root cause.

#20 ·
Funny thing is, not only is there an Envoy version of the S-15 Jimmy, there was also a "Trailblazer" version of the S-10 Blazer, as well as a "Tahoe" version of the S-10 Blazer. (I used to own one.)

No wonder most insurance companies went away from manufacturer descriptions and nomenclature to decide risk groups; they have now gone almost exclusively straight into the VIN number!

Please provide the reference for data to support the claim of more reliability. Or is this a cut and paste from some marketing hype posted by Autozone?

Torqflo has not been on our radar screen as a vendor before, so I need to collect more hard data before passing judgment.

fan speed sensor circuit

hi i just put on a new fan clutch, the old one had the wires cut for some reason.. the car was running cooler (at 150 degrees) before it was at 210. i reset the comp. and it turned off the check engine light. but then it turned back on and now its back to 210 degrees. could this be an electrical problem? i called the dealer and they never heard of this part.. i dont kno what to do please help!!

the code its throwing is p0526 x2

#24 ·
What part did the dealer never hear of? The fan clutch?!? Nonsense.

What brand did you put in? Have you inspected the new wiring harness carefully to look for bent pins? Why exactly did you change it out?

210 is the right gauge reading. If you were at 150 you have a bad thermostat and you should be getting a code P0128.

P0526 is an electrical problem, yes. Could be a failed clutch. Where did you buy it?

#25 ·
i bought a fan clutch off ebay and installed it. $111.00 the gauge is staying at just under 210, but the reason i thought it wasnt working properly is because the a/c doesnt blow cold when the car is not moving..

the dealer never heard of the "Fan Speed Sensor Circuit" wich is what the code scanner said when i hooked it up.. code P0526. so if this is an electrical problem how would i go about fixing it?

the reason i replaced the fan clutch is cause someone checked it by touching it with their finger and the fan stopped.

I clicked the vendor link to the part on page 2 of this thread and it goes to the clutch on Euro parts america. Is that still the best/good place to get this clutch?
I am also thinking about doing the waterpump while I'm there since I'm at 101K but that might be a worthless idea.

Regardless, I tried to search there for the waterpump and realized they are mainly/only euro car parts, so why are they selling the clutch for the TB?

I have ZERO faith in any part from an Autozone or Advance Auto. I'm either buying from Napa, GMPartsdirect.com, or from somewhere you guys can recommend here.

Anyone?
