I've been searching around for a little bit. We have a 2003 Trailblazer EXT with a 5.3l V8. I'm looking build a cheap air intake. I'm hoping to use the factory box/cover. But I'm unsure of what size piping to use 3in, 3.5in, or 4in? And what material to use pvc, steel, aluminum, etc? I already have some 3in plastic piping that would work but I'm not sure if it's the best size or best material to use.
Or should I stick with the stock tube and remove the sound baffles?
Eventually I would like to do some exhaust work done and a levelling kit. But for now I'm just looking to help it breath a little easier. It's not going to be a heavily modified or anything with so many miles on it (290,xxx mile). It's actually in pretty good condition, the only rust I've found is a little spot on the lift gate.
And help and/or guidance is appreciated.
