Not much louder....from inside the well-insulated cabin of the Rainier. It changes the lifeless drone on acceleration to more of a soft, pleasant rumble. Some claim it sounds "badass". I wouldn't say that...but definitely an improvement.

First of all great job on your intake, plan on doing this to my tb very soon along with adding a green air filter (very little heard of but very good). Only thing I might do is add a breather filter instead of a tube connecting back to the pvc pipe. But anyways back to what I was going to say, couldn't you based on your readings of heat shields working, but it restricts flow, cut the airbox with a dremel only leaving an L-shape on the right and top sides much like a K&N? Just my two cents, maybe ill be the guinea pig on this one but I don't have a way to read air temps that are coming in lol.

This is also another idea I considered, have you had any troubles with water or anything like that?
And also if you guys did, howd you go about removing the intake resonator?

Okay, and also a question for the OP, this wont be real technical but the hole that is left when you take off the vortec 4200 box, its real small on the left side of it, what did you do with that, did you put a filter on it or did you connect it to something? If anyone else knows they can also chime in!

Actually just kidding i feel like an idiot i just looked at the pictures again, but for the barb pipe fitting did you use something like this? and also, is the intake resonator the vortec box? and one more question the breather tube where you stick it into the engine, how did you do that or what hardware did you need, i found the part so i can put it in the pvc pipe i just need to know how to put the breather hose into the engine side. Plan on doing this mod tomorrow, any respose would be great if not ill just figure it out and post pics!

Looks Good!!

I just removed the resonator my 06 L6 TB. However, I did it the more expensive way. I bought the spectre performance piping. I will upload a pic in a day or so. Well it works like a mother!!! The TB rocks on the top in!!! Not only that I am looking to buy HPTurners just to try to eek out what I can from it. After reading the thread,"So this is how our throttle body works?", I can see why these trucks have so many issues.

May be GM knew that the L6 was a kick * motor but had to chop it's legs off to make the average Joe happy. Well too bad they don't sell an intake manifold with two or three throttle bodies and some large as heck injectors..... I would make feel like I was back in my old 260Z!!!
