B pillar removal

I need to pull the top of my driver's side B pillar out a little for a project. I don't have to remove the whole thing, I just need to pull the top out a few inches, enough to get my hands behind it.

Does it just pull straight out? Does it need to be pushed up or something? I'd rather not break any clips so I figured I'd come get the advice of someone who has taken it off already.

Thanks!

Pulls straight out. Retained by spring metal clips. (Assume you mean the interior TRIM plastic piece, not the structural pillar itself. :-)

Pull out some of the side plates first, they're in the way

He means the door sills, they have to come out as they go over the B-pillar base. All of the trim just pulls off with a few exceptions in the trunk area.

If you are pulling just the top, just pull. It'll pop loose. Make sure the retaining clips stay on the pillar. If they dont, pull them off the body and put them back on the pillar before reassemble.
