Envoy Lift Gate Latch

Hello All,

Has anyone had an issue with the liftgate not latching/closing? It happened on my 04 Envoy XL. The gate is heavy enough to stay down but remains ajar. It is at the dealership as we speak.

I have a little bit different problem, as I'm driving the rear window will just pop open, not all the time, just about 2 or 3 times in a week , must be something about the 04 XL.

Turns out, the lock needed lubrication. The lock flip over and got stuck so they just lubed it up. All is well for now.

Mine has issues too... but it's when you try to close it- WHAM it hits the stop and lodges. I've tried manually opening the latch and then closing it, but to no avail. Just WHAM over and over again. Anyone else ever have this problem?

having the same problem

My wife's 05 Envoy Denali XL does not want to latch at times. The lock cam stays closed and when you go to close the latch it hits the catch and the lift gate won't stay latched. You can take a pair of pliers (prefer needle nose) and giggle the cam and get it to open back up and then the lift gate will latch. I have tried some wd-40 on it to no avail. seems to work for a few times and the it fails in the same way again. Could the latch/lock be broken. Would like a little more info before I order a replacement.
