Fuel Tank Capacity

Hey guys,

I was wondering the previous thread of gas mileage has got me wondering.....I have an 2003 Trailblazer LT with a build date of 10/02 I was wondering what size tank I have....my owners manual doesnt really give me any definitive answers...Ive tried searching and all I could come up with is All Trailvoys with build date AFTER 8/02 recieved 22 gal. tanks.....but reading through some threads im not sure if that statement holds 100% accurate....could somebody verify this for me?

EDIT : Well I called my dealer where I get service and they ran my VIN....turns out I have the 22 gal. afterall

It cant be that all after that date have 22 gal tanks. When my needle is below empty i can still only put 18 gallons in the tank. There is no way I have a 4 gallon reserve. That just doesnt make sense when the needle is below empty.

on my tank (03 TB ) when my light comes on and needle practically at E, I refill with 16.7 gallons... I have the 18.7 tank.
so others with the 22 gal tank can chime in

I have the 22 gallon tank and the light comes on with about 19 gallons left. I think its a little early. the most I have ever put in was 20.3 gallons. I dont know if some of that is unuseable or not. I dont want to run out of gas.

Yeah, 80 miles sucking fumes just doesn't sound right to me either.

still, are you sure you're filling it all the way up, or are you done filling when the trigger trips? i could nurse about 13 gallons into my 12 gal. malibu tank. took some TLC but it could be done. just a thought.

I've got an '06 and the few times the light has come one, going by the 22 gallon number, I still had about 3 to 4 gallons left. My light comes one at about 1/8th of a tank.

I quit filling when the trigger trips, but fill a slight bit past. I still have never been able to get more than 18.2gallons on a fill up, and thats with the needle dropping E. And I have an 05LS

The owner's manual for an 05 states that the SWB has a 21.7 gallon tank. Maybe your guage is off. My EXT has a 25 gallon tank and the one time the light did come on I could put only 22 gallons in it.
