Tranny Rebuild Cost

What can I expect to pay to have my transmission rebuilt. Dealer or outside shop, doesn't matter. Not looking for anything beefy just to keep it going for a couple more years.

i had mine rebuilt last week by a transmission shop and it cost me $1170 for the transmission rebuild. I took it out and put it back in myself. PITA!!! Just finished minutes ago. I was qouted $1700-$2500 for them to do everything at a few shops around my area.

By PITA do you mean this because you did it on jack stands or just the process in general.

yeah pretty much cause it was on jackstands, hard to get the transmission out from under the car and back in. It was not too difficult to actually remove and install but very time comsuming. I bought a transmission jack and already owned a torque wrench so it was just hand tools

mine was $1003.00 with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. I removed my transmission and took it to them. Then I reinstalled myself.
