SS gas mileage

I'm about to take the plunge and order a TBSS awd....one concern is what are the awd versions getting in around town mpg with average driving habits? My current '01 ZR2 Blazer is killing me with 11-13 mpg. I'm hoping for somewhat better w/ a TBSS. thanks

It's about the same mileage, except you're going to have to use premium.

This vehicle is heavier and has a much larger engine. Just by common sense how would it remotely be any better?

For what it's worth, I test drove one yesterday (the one I'm picking up next week hopefully) and the computer said the avg. miles for that tank was 10.3 mpg. That my friend is absolutely TERRIBLE.

True, but you get 400 horsies and 395ft lbs of TQ to boot, so I would take that anyday to get that much power.

Also, the DIC has been known to be a little low on mileage, especially as the engine breaks in.

Regardless of how terrible that figure may be, I fell in love with the thing. It has some balls in the lower gears. I was SHOCKED to hear that exhaust note. The vehicle was about 20 feet away from me and my view was blocked when the salesman started the car. If I hadn't already known, I could have sworn I just heard a Vette starting up. That alone sold me on it.

Unfortunately, I havent seen one in Seattle yet or heard about one here (except for the AWD one going to Puyallup, for the lucky man on here who can afford one). I really want to hear the exhaust in person, as sound clips never do anything justice.

I can live with the mpg with that kind of horsepressure. I agree on the exhaust sound...sounds absolutely AWESOME from inside in the driver's seat. I amagine when the aftermrkt gets hold of this thing it's going to really rip!

Also, don't forget the 10.3mpg on the one you drove was probably because every time it goes out someone is running it at full throttle. I've found that mind averages somewhere in the 14.xx range based on the computer...
