Troubleshooting P0410 Code

First time poster here. I recently purchased a 2004 TB LS, 4.2 L Vortec and 49K on it. About 1 week after I had changed the OEM air filter my Service engine light came on so I took it to AutoZone to read the code. It came back with the following message:

P0410

Definition
Secondary Air Injection System fault
Explanation
The air injection system is monitored for faults
Probable Causes
1) Circuit relay defective or fuse open
2) Check connector and wiring
3) AIR pump defective or hoses blocked

I have re checked the stock air box to see if I accidentally left something off, but I see nothing. This problem might be coincidence.

Has anyone experienced this problem before and is there some easy checks that I can do before I take it in for repair? Where is the Air Induction pump and it's hoses/connectors?

Thumbs up

UPDATE:

After reviewing several other posts regarding this same problem, I was able to resolve the situation.

http://forums.trailvoy.com/search.php?searchid=1260519

It ended up being the Check Valve that is mounted n the passenger side of the engine directly below the intake hose. Part # 12575655.

I shopped around the local Dealers and found on that was willing to sell it well below list ($90 plus tax). You can find this part online for a little less but I could not wait. It took all of 10 minutes to install and I reused the original gasket along with Hi temp gasket sealant.

After installation I went to Auto Zone to have the SES light cleared but they told me they can no longer clear the codes due to a letter they recieved from the Government threatening a fine due to emissions? Has anyone else heard that?

Any shortcuts that I can try (i.e batter disconnect, ignition tricks)??

Rent a code reader from Autozone.
they allow yout to rent- it... you leave a deposit- equal to its value- I use my credit card.
I walk out read or clean code, and return it. they remove the charge on my card....
this is one I rented from Autozone about 1 hr after I finished replacing my thermostat.

Code Reader from Autozone

Do they give you the code book with the scanner. My `05 Envoy is constantly showing a check engine light that the bozos at the dealership can't trace. I've narrowed it down to using ethanol gas.

Did they tell you / document the code # (what is it)?

Was it a GM dealer?

Yes, GM dealer who sold the car. I'm an old guy in a suit, so they gave me some crap aout cleaning the injectors. $500 later, the light comes right back on as I leave the lot. They then blame the gas cap, as in "perhaps you don't have it screwed on tight". Oddly enough, I know how to put on a gas cap, and that isn't it. So, they just clear the code again and tell me to see if it comes back on. After a couple of visits like this, I realize that they don't have a clue.

Did they give you the code #; is it on your receipt?

Also, Please fill out all of the vehicle info in your user CP (edit profile) so that everyone can see what vehicle you're driving/refering to when the read your posts. Also, include your location; this may aid in possible assistance regarding laws and obligations protecting repair shop customers

UPDATE:

After driving the car for the next few days, the SES light went away on it's own. I guess that proves that I actually fixed the problem!!!!

After reading a lot of tyhe comments in this forum, I do need to purchase a code reader.
