Question P0332 knock sensor code

My wife's 2005 TB is now throwing a P0332 knock sensor code. I was hoping it was being caused by the 2 bad front wheel hub bearings and that it would go away after replacing them. This piece of crap only has 62k on it and there are all sorts of issues!

I am looking for info on where the knock sensor is, how to test it (with dvom) and a possible part number to replace it with. I looked on GMPartsdirect.com and it list 2 different ones. These are cheap enough, I just hate to buy them both and never need the second one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I doubt the wheel bearings would trip the knock sensor. You might be able to test it by hooking a scope to the output of the sensor and gently tapping the block with a SMALL brass hammer near the sensor. At that time you would see a spike on the voltage output of the sensor. Do you hear the engine knocking? It just might be a bad sensor. The idea is the sensor senses the knock and backs off the timing to stop the ign. knock and if it continues to knock it sets a code.

Thanks for the info. Any idea where it is located?

I did find this pic in another thread. Is it one of these sensors? Are there more than 1 knock sensor?

In the pic, the knock sensor is #2 and is located on the left side of the engine, to the rear and just under the starter. The GM part number is 12567446 and was $35.21. Very easy fix.

If the knock sensor is doing its job, you won't hear the knocking. See post #2. The timing being retarded will cause engine sluggishness.

any news?

My engine (5.3) is doing the same no knock but the P0332 code is present. Did changing the sensor solve the MIL issue? Which one is the #2 on the 5.3?
Thanks!
