Speaker Size (front and rear)

Hi,

I want to change out the speakers on the both sides of the front and rear. Does anyone know what size they are?

I'd open the door panels, but rather ask and then open them up to replace them in one time. Thanks to anyone who has input...

Steve

some of us have had to fab up spacers to keep the magnets of the new speakers from hitting the door glass

What's the mounting depth of the speakers you installed? Crutchfield says 2" depth will fit, but I'm not sure that is the max.

They are 2.5" depth....when I got my speakers they checked out in the "will it fit" (that problem was corrected) even with a 1/2" spacer it is still really close

So with just 2" of depth, I would be ok?

Most speakers will work, Andrew(may03lt) has the Rockford Fosgate power component speakers. The others I know will not work are the yellow coned Pioneer's. If you are lookin at the fosgate punch, or anything to that caliber, you will be fine.

Keep the old front housing, cut out the old tweeter and remove the 6 1/2". This makes a perfect bracket for a 6 1/2 component set. There is plenty of room to mount the crossover to the door panel. DO NOT PUT THE CROSSOVER IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR FRAME! It looks like a great spot but all water from the window runs in that area. I have had to replace. I have pics.

For the back I used 5 1/4 coax. They dont fit in the bracket exactly but silicone around the speaker frame and the bracket for a good seal.

Personally I would prefer to have the tweeters higher up.

I would either put them on the pillar where those two "plugs" are so that I don't have to cut or in the dash where the bose "tweeters" normally go.
