Here is my problem. My 04 tb I6 will not start after filling up. It does not matter if its at 1/4 of a tank or almost empty. I have to hit the gas and eventually it will start up. I have read on here alot of people think its the fuel filter or fuel pump.
I just had both replaced and its still doing it. My next thing I just ordered was a fuel pressure regulator. I am going to try this and see if it fixes the problem.
Am I missing anything else?

My friend, I think your throwing money at it without figuring out the problem.

All of the things you have, or about to, replace can be tested in the vehicle. All are easy to test and expensive to replace.

Give us more info.

At this point, I think the problem happens when the truck is hot and has been turned off for 5 minutes (length of time it takes to add gas).
I'll bet, it always works when cold and it will always start if it is hot and sits for awhile, say 1/2 hr or more.

So, drive to the gas bar (or = distance) and park the truck. Try to restart after a few minutes, you will probably have the problem.

If you do, you should be looking at something like an injector leaking and flooding the engine.

My 06 TB was doing the exact same thing...My prob was the sending unit in the tank all is now good

Running a bottle of injector cleaner ( Techron or Seafoam come to mind) should help if you haven't done it in a while.

tried 3 bottles of that stuff....turnrd out we had an open circut in the level sending unit

I am replacing the fuel pressure regulator here next weekend. Thanks for the info. If that does not fix it I will take it to the stealership to check it out.

with my 06 it would start but you had to hold the key in the manual position (not using the auto start feature) then the gas gauge would do weird stuff like saying it was 1/2 full even after just filling up then it would drop down to empty and just move all over the place...... after you burned off a gallon r 2 all was well until the next fill up....and the same thing all over again

And was this fixed? Did you have a new sending unit installed?

Father in law and I will work on it Saturday. Cheaper than sending it to the garage plus get to learn more about the engine
