One Headlight does not work

Hello everyone I am new here. I have a 2003 Trailblazer. My drivers side Headlight went out. I replaced the bulb and it still does not work. I looked at the connection and it is not burned or black (happened on the passenger side). I am not real good with cars so I am asking does anyone know why this may not be working? Any tricks I can try? Thanks in advance for any help.

Bryan

Unfortunately, where parts swapping ends, troubleshooting begins.

Do you have access to a digital multimeter or 12v test light?

I don't have the manual here at the moment, but check the under hood fuse
block. There are individual fuses for passenger side and driver's side high
and low beams. All I can find for diagrams at the moment is info for
an 07 TB:

Fuse 2 Passenger High Beam
Fuse 3 Passenger Low Beam
Fuse 5 Drivers High Beam
Fuse 6 Drivers Low Beam

Check with meter or just swap them and see if the problem travels.

Good Luck!

Chris

Well I pulled the fuse and it was fine. I was really hoping that was it. I do nto have a meter here at work or anywhere for that matter. Thanks for trying.

For less then a single trip to a shop for a diagnosis, an investment in a meter will help troubleshoot electrical problems for years to come.

Not only will it allow you to test that headlamp connector,
but also voltage at the fuse box, and continuity on the fuse. Sometimes
fuses will look ok, but still be bad. I had one on my Lumina that looked
fine, but had no continuity. I had to look at it with a magnifying glass
to see the break.

You could have something as simple and annoying as a poor connection
inside that connector....you can't see all of it, but what you can see
looks ok. A meter could at least help you narrow down the possibilities.

Got a Radio Shack near you?

Good Luck!

Chris

A year or so ago, Harbor Fright had a sale on cheap meters. Like $1.99 cheap. I bought a dozen, and whenever I have somebody local want to borrow my good meter, I throw them one of these cheapies and give them a 2 minute tutorial.

If they didn't learn the difference between volts and amps in high school, they might not be trainable, though. How is it possible to graduate without learning the bare minimum about how the world works? Is physics not a required subject anymore?
