Question Po128 and po014 error codes

I have an 05 chevy trailblazer and have had no issues until a few days ago. After starting my car I noticed the oil pressure went from 40 to 80 in seconds after which I restarted the car and the oil pressure needle buried all the around to almost zero. The service engine light came on. After a dignostic check the codes read PO128 (coolant temp) and PO014 (cam postition). Could anyone tell me what would cause all of these issues at one time and what would your suggestions be. Being a female I truly dont want to be taken advantage of!!!

P0128 is a thermostat stuck open. Do a search as this is very common and there are many posts about getting it fixed either by a repair shop or DIY.

Also search P0014 to get similar information.

You will learn a lot by reading the posts.

The two codes are unrelated. It's just coincidental that they appeared at the same time. It could be that one of the codes is "Pending" and just showed up in the diagnostic readout. I get the P0128 quite frequently (my thermostat is opening at 176F to 179F, then the engine warms up to operating temp, so I'm not in a big hurry to change the thermostat as it was recently replaced). The scantool shows two codes for P0128, one actual and one pending.

When was your last oil change? Is the oil at the correct level? The P0014 can sometimes be fixed with an oil change. Sometimes removing the CMP Actuator Solenoid Valve and cleaning the screens.
