front diff gear ratio?

Where do I find the front diff gear ratio? Is it on some tag attached to the unit? Can I find it in the VIN? IF so I don't know how to read that.

In the glove box, you'll see either GU6, GT4 or GT5 which corresponds to 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10 respectively. The front always matches the ratio of the rear axle, so the code applies to both.

Is there a way to know what gear ratio a front diff. is if its out of the vehicle? I might be getting one from a junk yard, and want to make sure it is correct.

Turn the input yoke and count how many times it takes to turn the outputs once. That's the essence of what a GEAR RATIO does.
