Question RPM's jumping

When ever I'm driving at a steady pace i can feel the truck jump and when I take a look at the rpm's i can see the hand bounce up a notch or two. I was told it could be the torque converter, but i was also told it could be a clogged cat. converter. One thing I'm unsure of if it's having an issue going into overdrive or if the issue is occuring while in overdrive. I can feel the truck shift into each gear but not sure about OD. Any ideas by chance what may be causing this?????

How many miles do you have? Any engine codes? Have you dropped the tranny pan and changed/examined the fluid? Does it still happen if you stay in 3rd? I think a clogged cat converter would cause more trouble than this but I'm guessing on that one.

Might help:

109,000 is the mileage... I just went and got the trans fluid and rear diff. changed out... didnt feel any jumping but i havnt been up to speed to notice the problem yet. I havnt thought about driving in 3rd to see if the problem persists, will do!!!
