Throttle position sensor failure

Greetings to all! I'm researching about this TPS failure code on my friend's 2005 GMC Envoy SLT XUV with about 50k on the truck. I'm pretty sure she has the 5.3 V8. So, I've been researching on this forum and even bought a Chilton's manual. It seems the TPS is inside the throttle body. I've read that the throttle body can/should be cleaned. Looking at the manual, removing the throttle body doesn't appear too daunting. What I can't seem to find is HOW to clean it. Also is it possible that this could turn the idiot light off or is the sensor inside the TB toast, end of story=Replace the whole TB. Also, to add to my confusion, is "Fuel Injection Air Meter Body" the same as "throttle body"? I found the part number 12580760 from GMpartsdirect. Much better price than what the stealership quoted. My friend has been under a great deal of financial hardship so I'm trying to see if I can figure this mystery out myself.

I can't believe how complicated this truck is! It's absolutely amazing to me considering I personally drive a 28-year-old turbo-diesel Mercedes. It's about as simple as a Model T Ford!

Thanks in advance.

This is for the I6 engine: http://forums.trailvoy.com/articles....ticle&artid=91

The V8 doesn't have the same problem: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthrea...149#post844149, however cleaning the t-body is cheap and couldn't hurt.
