2006 Envoy Tailgate Handle not locking to latch

I have a 2006 Envoy and the tailgate does not latch. I have tried to pull the exterior handle and the latch does not move. I can still hear the locking mechanism click when I unlock the doors with the remote. Can someone please give me some directions and/or photos oh how i go about removing the interior and/or exterior panel to check the locking mechanism. I am a newbie at repairs but I wanted to see if this is something I fix myself or do I need to get this replaced at the dealer. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Luis

IIRC, there is a manual release behind a small round cover, which is on the inner door panel. I'm not by the vehicle right now to give you better instructions unfortunately.

tailgate not locking Envoy 2006

HI luisrod,

Did you get the tailgate not locking fixed? I have 2006 Envoy with the same problem. The keyless remote sounds like it locks the tailgate & window but it doesn't lock either one.

Can you help me resolve it?

I took the back panel off & all wiring looks good, check fuse #3 in the back seat as someone suggested & it's good.

Thanks

Brian
