Dex VI is GM recommended to replace all previous versions. Dex III is the factory fill. Your choice.

Or any high quality tranny fluid such as Amsoil, Mobil 1, Royal Purple etc.

...provided it's Dex-III or Dex-VI.

I have checked the Amsoil site and it appears that they have two tranny fluids that cover most makes (Chrysler is the exception). The Synthetic Universal Transmission Fluid is for up to Dex III and the Synthetic Fuel Efficient Automatic Transmission Fluid covers the Dex VI. It would appear the all is covered unless I am missing something. I am not as familiar with Mobil I and Royal Purple but I would think their premium brands would be acceptable. But always good to check just in case as Tranny's can be very expensive to fix.

You are technically right, but I just figured better safe then sorry. Both RP and Amsoil are compatible, and "Mobile 1" only has 1 ATF fluid which is too, but under the cheaper "Mobile" brand they have a few that aren't compatible.
