Exclamation Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction

I was driving the truck awhile back and the SES light came on. The truck didnt start driving different or anything. It stayed on for a couple days then went off for a couple more then it came back on. It has been on for 2 months now. So, i stop in autozone to see if they could tell me what was causing the SES light to come on. po410 came up which is the Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction code. The guy at autozone didnt know anything about it. What exactly does this do? i havent noticed any difference in the way the truck has been running. does it need to be fixed? and will it cause anymore problems if it does not get fixed? im guessing its some kind of smog pump, but I dont see no smog pump on the belt so im guessing electric or something idk... i went from drivin a 91 chevy pickup to drivin this 04 trailblazer.... we used to take the smog pumps off those old trucks for more power. the old truck was easier to work on. this new stuff is some BS most of the time.

P0410 error code thread

Someone mentioned in the various comments on this error code that the secondary valve was only available from the dealer. I don't remember how old that response was, but I am having the same problem with my 2005 TB and in searching for the valve, I found that the AC Delco part number for the valve is AC2142222. This valve was/is used on a number of other vehicles and is available from sources other than the dealer. MSRP is $140+. I found one website where the price was $70+. Keep searching and saving............

i had the same code come up about 2 months ago.its eather your air pump which is under your driver seats mounted on the frame and cross member or its the check valve which is mounted on the passenger side above the exhaust manifold it looks like small aluminum box,it has electric wires and air lines hook to 1 of those i was told u should replace both if it the air pump the chech valve failed and the air pump gets full of water and it failes.jack up your tb pull 1 of the hoses off or both and see if water drains out then it your air wont cause and problems and it wont drive any different just the check engine light will stay on.the check valve is easy to replace 2 nuts and replace the check valve ,the pump is a little bit of a pain do to where it mounted but not bad.if u do it your self replace the part or parts then clear the code.i dont have pics of the parts good luck.
