Oil light on the instrument panel came on tonite.

While driving tonite the oil light flashed on the instrument panel. I always change my oil on time (Mobil 1) I never need to add oil between oil changes.
Is this light on because of the oil life indicator. I havent touched it in ages.

Did you check the oil level?

If it is the OLM, when you turn the key to the RUN position, the oil light will stay on longer than rest of the lights on the dash.

Instrument panel Oil indicator on

oil level is fine. I pulled over and checked it as soon as I noticed it then drove slowly until I got home listening carefully to see if there were any noises.

oil light

Wouldn't think it would come on after you have been driving awhile, usually the olm light comes on when first started . You should reset the olm everytime you change the oil , easily done .It's in the owners manual or on this site..

Not positive but, if the OLM hits 0% life left while driving, the light should go on.

Hello,

If the light you are referring to is a picture of a wrench and an oil can, then that usually means some maintenance needs to be done (such as changing the oil). If this is not, please send me more information and I will be happy to look further into it for you.
