7 freaking quarts of oil? Is this correct?

I went to get some 5w/30 Mobile 1 today for the Trailblazer and I looked it up in the Haynes manual....is it correct it takes 7 freaking quarts of oil?? (4.2L V6). That's nuts, its going to cost me like $75 bucks for an oil change and I have to even do all the work!!!

I have had V6s in just about every vehicle I own an never had an oil capacity like that. Even the 5.7L Chevy V8 in my boat doesn't take that much!!!!

Is this correct?

Well if you have a V6 the motor was changed. They either have a straight 6(I6) or a V8.They straight 6 does take 7 Qt.

7 quarts, for sure. One benefit, however, is the ability to go @10k miles between changes.

Yes, 7 quarts.

But $75 for 7 quarts and a filter? From where? You're getting ripped off if it is going to cost that much.

I think that would be right on par for full synthetic, filter, and tax. Maybe a few bucks less. At least in my area.

Mobil 1 is $24.95 for a 5 qt jug at Wal-Mart. Individual qts (2) are $6.95 plus an AC oil filter for maybe $5.00. So it would be under $50.00 even with tax.
I had a Mobil 1 oil change done on my CTS V when I got it and I paid them $80.00. They want $96.00 to change the oil in my F350 turbo diesel. It holds 14.5 qts. Needless to say, I do my own most of the time. (Actually my son does it for me.)
