2005 Trailblazer radio problems

Hey everybody, any help would be awesome!

About two weeks ago my factory radio on my 2005 Trailblazer LS went haywire and sounds like absolute crap. It sounds like there is no bass/treble, almost like you're listening to a crappy AM station constantly even if it's FM, CD, or even with OnStar. None of the chimes work at all, and I get no sound from my rear speakers at all!

I checked other posts and most people agreed that I would need a new head unit, which is fine, I can swing that, but most people are also suggesting a new amp for the rear speakers. However, all the info i found on my trailblazer is that there is no amp on the non-Bose stereo...Could someone help clarify this for me, please?!?!?!

Also, which chime retention harness will I need for an aftermarket stereo (I would like to keep onStar too).

Thanks for your help everybody!
