I believe that is for the fuel tank.

Hmm, not too confident with that answer but you could be right. I am going to call GM and verify.

Just to let everyone know. I called GM today. The 10-Year Special Coverage 10054 is for the fuel sender unit, not the tank. I believe that NHTSA investigation is really driving this. Everyone, keep an eye out for a letter from GM. This is not a recall yet but at least it looks like GM is acknowledging the issue.

10054 Fuel Sender Unit

FWIW-

I took in the ol 06 TB this morning for a recall (couldn't get CA plates without proof of the recall being fixed) and mentioned my fuel gauge hasnt worked in YEARS. The Service Writer asked me if it was gauges (apparently there is a bulletin for this as well) but I informed him of the P0463 code. After about 2 minutes he pulled up the 10054 Bulletin which covers the fuel sender unit (the bulletin mentioned something about corroded connections or something to that effect). I will post up later this afternoon if the gauge is working!

No more waiting for 320 miles to click by! Imagine the luxury of knowing how much fuel I ACTUALLY have!!

We just got a letter from GM/Buick regarding our '05 Rainier. The NHTSA had been investigating the platform (Trailblazers, etc) because apparently the fuel gauge system is crap and a huge number of them have failed.

Our fuel gauge has not worked since approximately 50k miles. We use the trip odometer to know when to fill-up.

GM only offered to pay 50% of the repair (estimated to be $600) if you are under 120k miles. We are now over 140k, even though the gauge has not worked for 90k of those miles.

I expect I'll be doing the repair myself someday. I am guessing it is the sending unit, as that is what the special warranty letter mentioned, rather than the gauge.
