OBDII scanner won't connect to 02 Envoy

I bought my wife an 02 Envoy. Well the service engine light came on today. So I grabbed my little code reader to try to read the code and it won't connect or even do anything.

I've had this happen on other cars before and if I remember right it was always a blown fuse somewhere.

Is this car the same, and where do I start to look for it?

Thanks in advance!

Its shares the same fuse as the cigarette lighter. I can't remember off the top of my head what number it is but a search will find it for you. It gets discussed a lot.

Yep it was the cigarette lighter fuse. Switched and now it works fine.

Thanks so much!

For the benefit of future searchers, it's front fuse #13.
