Battery light stays on?

My battery idiot light stays on just slightly even with the key out of the ignition. By slightly I mean it is clearly not triggered to be on because when I turn the key on it is much brighter. With the motor running she is charging at 14v and the batt light is on very dim. The same way with the motor off and keys out. Gerry dim but it's on. Any ideas what to check first?

Thanks
Brad

This happened to me right after I got the ignition switch replaced. The dealer did not adjust something correctly allowing the key to come out and then the switch being allowed to be turned ever so slightly so that it makes some sort of connection, illuminating the light.

Have you had ignition switch issues before or had it replaced recently / ever?

Ive never changed the ignition switch. I honestly didnt think that would be a symptom of a bad switch. I guess Ill have to research the switch issues. I know a lot of people on here have had to replace that. Thanks

I'm experiencing the same issue with the battery idiot light staying on very dim but haven't noticed any other issues so far and voltage gauge is holding around 14 volts when the engine is running.

It IS the Ignition Switch--a cheap and easy repair well documented on here with plenty of pictures.

Thanks, cbwilsha!
I saw that "How to replace your ignition switch (pics)" post.

Doesn't look bad at all, I'll order up an ignition switch and replace it before the problem gets any worse.

Dude... that's not good?
I hope I don't have to replace it that many times...
Ok which brand should I choose?
Chevy wants about $49.00 for GM part and Autozone wants about $39.00 for their Duralast brand.

I can only say all three of mine were GM official parts. I think if I had to do it again, it would be about time to try Duralast.
