P0495 Fan Speed Too High Code
I have a an 06 with 71,000 miles. Was towing a small aluminum trailer with a ATV on it (total weight 1,100 lbs) across New Mexico, lots of mountains and hills. My tranny would kickdown to a lower gear a sometimes I would be hitting 5000 rpms. I did not use cruise control so i could control the kickdowns, I would just slow down as I went up hills instead of maintain speed. I do not know the rpms when it kicked on. My check engine light came on but it spit out this code, P0495 Fan Speed Too High. I reset it in Guymon OK and 300 miles later in Kansas it came back on.
I reset it again now that I am home not towing a trailer. 75 miles around the city and it has not come back on.
Some history
I towed the trailer to Arizona in August heat and had my AC worked on while there. No issues. I came home without the trailer and had a tranny cooler added. The guy poked my radiator while doing it, so I got a brand new radiator. I assume he didn't touch my fan.
The temps during my latest drive was 30-50 degrees F so no AC was on and the Defrost was not on.
Is this the beginnings of the infamous Trailblazer Fan Clutch failure? I thought this was only the 02-03 models.
