can I fit a larger tire on stock rim?

Hi, I have stock 17 inch rims on my 2005 extended LS, with 245/65s on them, is it feasible to safely fit larger tires on these rims? thanks

Yes it is feasible. As long as you don't go over board. Clearance is the issue if you get too tall or too wide a tire it will scrub on your inner fenders and sway bars when making turns. If you have a tire you are thinking if mounting and you have a full size spare put it on that rim mount it on the front let your jack down and check for clearance. Turn steering wheel from lock to lock and make sure nothing rubs.

I have 245/70 R17 on my Envoy and they fit with room to spare. You could probably go up a little bit more but it might get tight.

Yeah just eyeballing it I seem to have a good amount of extra room, I am going to get tires this week, I'll see what the tire shop recommends I can do. It's a big SUV and the 245/65s are just a little too dinky on it, I think.

I put Yokahama 265/65/17s on it yesterday and have driven 20 miles and no rub, there is plenty of room in back and the front is fine too, I think you could probably get away with 275/65s.
