4x4 issues

ok I have a 2005 envoy that won't engage the front wheels when put into 4 wheel drive. the switch lights up when it is change to which ever function I put it on, if I put it in 4l it even slows way down like it is in 4, but its not. i was in snow and rear tires were spinning but nothing was happening in the front. what do you all think is the issue? thanks

The front disconnect assembly is not engaging the intermediate shaft, so power is going to the front wheels. It likely is not the actuator because if the actuator were not functioning, the indicator light on the selector switch would not stay on the selected mode.
Failure of the disconnect is fairly common because there is little lubrication in that area.

Do search on disconnect repair or replacement, There are also videos on Youtube.

One of the difficult parts about replacing the disconnect is that it almost "welds" itself to the crankcase and takes a huge effort to break it free.

yes, its the entire housing assembly that needs to be replaced.

not cheap. so if you can, see if you can find a good used one.

after removing it from your truck, ,see if it can be serviced somehow, unlikely . worth a try.
please keep us updated.
