4.2l I6 help

Ok I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right thread or not but here we go. I spun a rod bearing on cylinder number 6. Just recently done a head job and valve job 2k miles previously. I have looked into rebuilding the motor but the cost alone for the tty bolts are outrageous. My question is has anyone put another motor other than the I6 and what were the hurdles.
