check engine light and change oil light

I'm still figuring out if its normal to see the engine light on and change oil light on before you start the engine. have change my own engine oil. need help on this problem?

All of you idiot lights should come on before you start the engine, that way you know the bulbs are still working.

As long as they all go off after your engine is started, your vehicle is operating normal.
