I am still curious though... what if you just get the tune and not the CAI? Is the CAI a 'must have' to go along with the tune?

Thanks.
No but the tune is a must have to go with the CAI So you've got it backwards BTW our intake is still the only unit on the market designed using OEM CAD by OEM engineers for a fit, finish and function that only Vector can deliver

by 'must have' I mean... is getting the CAI worth it's weight in gold? Getting a tune will make a noticable difference, but adding the CAI... noticable?

Help w/custom cai build

Where can I buy the parts needed for the custom cai? What all do I need?

I had it on 1 day before my tune came in and it felt like total garbage! It sounded cooler but it fell flat on its face. After the PCM4less tune, which was tuned for the intake, it feels like a beast!

After testing our New Era intake on a stock 08 tbss for 1000 miles , it did not change the stock tune that much , so a tune isn't absolutely necessary on the 08 year tbss . However , a custom tune is important for optimum performance in any case regardless .

David, I really like the looks of the AirAid system but, when you look it up by year on AirAid's site it list 2 different systems depending on whether you have a 96 model or a 97-98 TBSS? is there a difference? What about dyno numbers with your system? Is a retune a must? Thanks!

Hello ALLNTRL,

We offer two systems. We have one for the 2006 TBSS and one that fit's the 2007-2008 TBSS. We found that the tube will not fit with the 2006 TBSS.

A tune is not required to run the Airaid Intake.

2007-2008 TBSS Airaid :

2006 TBSS Airaid :

any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

David, thanks for the reply. You said that the inlet tube woundn't work on a 2006? What was changed in 2007 to make them different? A friend at work has an 2007 model TBSS and We haven't seen anything that's different in the inlet system from the T.B. to the airbox between my 06 and his 07, maybe we are just overlooking something but so far I haven't seen any differences? Can you explain?

Hello ALLNTRL,

I would be more than happy to explain

To the naked eye they look the same, but when it comes down to fitting the tube on the 2006 model, it will not fit.

the 2006 model has a different Water pump / Radiator Hose assembly than the 2007-2008 models. The system was originally designed on a 2007 model and when we went to test fit a 2006 model we realized they are different, and the intake tube will not work on the 2006 TBSS.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

For explaining the difference, we never noticed that either. I guess you do learn something New everyday. Your system still looks very good and I will be sure to keep it in mind when I do decide which intake system I will be going with, Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.
