The fact that no one has answered in 3+ weeks shows what this site has become. Ask over at G M T N a t I o n . C o m no spaces. Bet you get an answer THE SAME DAY. doesn't happen here anymore

I will watch what they say bc I dont want to wait as long as u did if it happens to my '05! Could be the lock mechanism. Does the glass open?

This is a shot in the dark, but did you try locking / unlocking the car by pressing the main lock / unlock switch on the driver side door? I remember when I first got my TB the tailgate would not lock when I hit my alarm remote button. So now to lock all the doors (including the tailgate), I press the main switch on the side panel of the drivers side when I get out. Maybey you can reverse what I do and hit unlock? Just a suggestion

tailgate lock

you can manually unlock the tailgate by accessing the lock mechanism through a small hole provided on the interior trim. you will see a small plastic plug that covers up the hole which is near the middle of the tailgate.

the cause of unlock/lock trouble - could be frayed/shorted wires in the wiring conduit which goes between the tailgate and the body. you'll see the rubber sock and grommet on the upper left (when standing behind the vehicle). this conduit, and wires within, flexes each time the tailgate is opened/closed. it is well documented on this site that failures occur inside the conduit. you may have to repair sections of the frayed wires manually.
