Mounting depth

Do I need a mounting depth of 2.05" or 1.9" for a 2006 GMC Envoy?

mechanic told me not just any 6 1/2 speakers will work, they have to fit the exact car...then I found out that some SUVs require different mounting depths

as far as I know.

any 6 1/2 will do.

I replaced front and rear with 2 different brands (JBL and Scosche) and all worked fine.

good thread here, lots of good info

I bought a pair of Kickers and a pair of Kenwoods and never worried about would they fit. 6 1/2" are 6 1/2" in these vehicles. There is an issue with the mounting bracket in the front that a Dremel tool (or small hacksaw) easily solves.

good job on the factory harness.

I could not find it locally, so I ended up cutting them and making my own connections

For a vehicle that is getting a little long in the tooth I also just cut and soldered. Cutting the connecter off the old speaker and soldering it to the new speaker would seem to give the same result with enough left over after doing 4 to go buy a nice steak dinner. But people just want plug and play today so...
