Another SS vs GC SRT8

Went to the 1/8 yesterday with a guy I know from work who has an 06 GC SRT8, black, stock except for a K&N, real nice truck. I was hoping to outrun him since I have a few mods but unfortunately I couldn't hook at all. I tried to feather and the truck just wanted to spin . I would have to almost come completely out of the throttle to regain traction every time. Anyway he was leaving at 1800-2K everytime, chirping the tires and pulling 1.9 60's where as I was eeking out 2.25's and 2.3's . He was consistent in the 8.5X's and pulled a best of 8.400 and I was consistent with 8.7X's reeling him in the whole time after I hooked. He was trapping at 81.X, almost hitting 82 on his 8.4 run and I was trapping at 84.X. Oh well it was a fun afternoon and at least I'm pretty sure that from a roll I would get him. Now it's time for a little more power and a lot more traction

What can us 2WD guys do for traction, with the stock wheels? Anything besides new tires?

Maybe air down a little bit, but I think the general consensus is you need a set of DRs if you start putting down the bigger #s.

Im a fan of AWD, but I live in the NW and deal with rain and snow all the time.

Nice runs. Get some of the new Nitto 20" DR and you will easily get your 60 ft. sub 2.0.

Ditto with respect to the AWD. Makes for some real easy launching. I will be putting a TC in mine pretty soon so it should make for some stout 60 ft. times.

Air down them tires a bit...I had mine set at like 25lbs and I heated em up pretty well before running. Hitting 2.0 60' times, and the 1/8th was at 8.71 at 81.8mph stock...No spin, she straight hooked.

Yeah tires were set at 24 lbs. and I was leaving from idle and trying to feather it. Last time I went it was 90 degrees there and I was hooking pretty good, only spining for about 4-5 ft. maybe and pulling 1.9X 60' times. My ET was better this time with the temp being ~ 48 but not good enough to beat his I'm either going to replace all wheels and get some better tires or just get a set of DR's for the track, not sure yet.

That's one of the perks to having RWD, you can go wider on the rear while keeping a narrower tire in the front which could help keep cost down as well as helping on the street

Thats true and I do like the staggered look. I think I've been reading that 10" the back is OK.
