Hello. New member here.

Greetings, my name is Ryan. Ive been a GMT360 admirer for a while now and finally bought a 2008 Saab 9-7x with the 5.3L V8 and AWD at 113k miles. This is for daily driver use.
I apologize ahead of time. This story is long. So strap in.

My previous vehicle was a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I drove that for about 5 years going from 117k to 154k. Nothing ever broke and it never left me stranded but I ended up doing some front end suspension work and brakes. I work for 1A Auto so I get parts at cost. I wanted to get ahead of things I felt would need replacing soon. It suffers from typical rocker rot and I was getting tired of the W-Body platform. If I drove for more that 30 minutes I would have to stretch after getting out. Not super comfortable.
Before that was a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP that I drove from 152k to 180k. Thing worked fine but was a beat pig. It was good enough for me to buy the 2003.
My last SUV was a 97 Mercury Mountaineer AWD with the 5.0 V8. It was cheap and a giant piece of crap. At one point I had a rotted 94 Explorer Eddie Bauer that just sprayed coolant all over the front of the motor. Thats how bad the lower intake gaskets were. I did replace them but not before realizing I didnt want to deal with the body work, rotted exhaust, and slipping transmission. But it was good mechanical experience. After doing the job I read the lower intake gaskets on the 4.0 is tough. It wasnt fun but it was fine.
My first car I purchased my self and it was a 96 Taurus SHO. I thought it was a responsible choice but also not being completely boring. That had its own list of headaches. I was a Ford guy growing up and then I bought a few. So I switched to GM. I understand every company builds both good and crap cars. Ive just had better luck with GM.
So about this Saab. I had it towed back because it was 70 miles away. When it got here I had to replace the battery. When I test drove it the guy had a jump pack on the ground. And it was running when I got there. Id much rather a cold start but 70 miles away on a sunday they had to open the shop for me to see it. I had to make an appointment. The tow driver said the battery was dead when he got there. So once it was home I replaced the battery. Then later that night after driving a bit the oil pressure dropped. But would rise again under heavy throttle. I did some reading and learned about the screen filter clogging and blocking the sensor. Im obviously an idiot (see Explorer section) so I decided to replace the sensor and just clean the screen. So its fine now. I also drove it Tuesday and Wednesday like that because I know these sensors fail but the pressure is fine. While scanning codes to clear the oil code I also got p0138 which seems to be O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2. I also got a code for cylinder 8 misfire. To check that ill swap a wire. If it moves ill change the wires. If it doesnt ill swap a coil. If it moves ill change the coil. If it stays the same Ill do the plugs.
Other things that dont work.
The nav touchscreen is black but I can blindly search for and hear radio stations. Both power heated seats work. Memory works. I thought the mirror control was pop out. Turns out it broke long ago and I pulled the bezel and operated them with the switch hanging out. Bezel is messed. Missing the tabs to hold the switch to the bezel. Replaced by black goop that obviously failed. The bezel has its posts but is missing the metal clip. The rarity of these trucks means ill probably rebuild it using Gorilla glue. Headlight washers do not work. Dont care at this time and will figure that out when its warmer. The rear tire carrier broke at some point so the spare is inside the truck. Ill buy a Dorman version from work. New carrier is below o2 sensor and misfire in the list of priorities.
Things that do work that I would expected to have issues. The moonroof is mint. Tilt and slide. Rear defrost and heated mirrors. HID headlights. (but I dont like the blue/green color. Probably change them for a whiter bulb) They do sometimes flicker to a brighter white when hitting a bump. I feel like I need to clean the ballasts and waterproof/seal them. Fog lights (barely do anything. Upgrade options/ideas greatly accepted) Rear wiper and wash (genuinely surprised it also had fluid and while rough to the touch, a blade that clears the window) When I test drove it the exit memory was on some sort of "crush you against the wheel" setting. Fine now.
OH that stupid flip spin Saab dash cup holder is fully in tact. It takes some pushing and coercing but once open is in one piece and will hold a cup.

I just thought id introduce myself and let you fine folks know my current situation. Im quite adept in using forums and the search function.
I look forward to finding my answers.

Thanks everyone
