Window switch curiousity

So my passenger window switch is shorted out because of water. Instead of buying a new one or used, and pay to have it programmed, could I wire the passenger window motor to the passenger window switch on the driver side control panel and have it roll up and down with that switch?

Water Damaged Window Switches

If it were the driver's side, it would be under extended warranty, as these were recalled. No recall that I know about the passenger side, but, there may be a secret one. I'd call your dealership before any rewiring. If not, then I might just go the ebay or rockauto route.

First of all, the actual switch does not control the window motor directly. The electronics in the door module does that. And if you are thinking of adding the passenger window motor wiring to the driver's window motor wiring, the electronics can not handle extra load of two motors. Just bite the bullet and buy a used one on Ebay or go to a salvage yard.

BTW I don't think the door control modules require programming.

Everything I've read says it has to be programmed or hooking it up will result in security mode, making all the dash gauges and lights act crazy

Dealer said $120 to program it even if I but it from them.
Just want to roll down the window, other than dealer programming, just looking for another option.

Seriously, find another GM dealer. Maybe a bad Yelp review would help get you the proper attention. If the mod does need programming, and I tend to doubt it too, it would take less then 10 minutes, and that includes taking the computer out of the toolbox, walking it over to the car, programming, and then walking back to the tool box and putting it back. And these dealers wonder why we hate them! Just think if they said sure, put it in your self and if you have an issue, call first for a time to bring it over and the floor manager will reprogram it for you for $25. Think about how many people you would tell. And since you do your work yourself, you're probably a "car guy" who's neighbors, relatives and friends all come to for automotive advice. Idiots!
