G80 locker upgrade

hello all,
I am new to the site. i have a question that i think has been asked but i havent seen an answer. I have a 2004 envoy XL. i have the GU6 rear but it does not have the G80 locker. can i upgrade to the G80? is it just a matter of swapping internals or would i need the whole axle assembly?

Easiest way to upgrade to g80 is salvage. Just swap the whole thing. Or put mini spool in the open diff and be done with it.

Just make sure you get one with the same gear ratio as the old one ( to match the front diff if you have 4x4).

A better option would be swapping g80 from T. B. ss. Only would I need to use the driveshaft as well? But would it fit in my 02 ls 4200?
