Mirror Turn Signal Mod Using LED Modules on a 2007 TB LT:

LED’s Modules Required (2) RED & (2) YELLOW
1. Rotate mirrors forward towards the hood to gain access to the one 10mm Torx screw holding the lens in place. Remove screw and carefully wiggle lens toward the rear of the vehicle till lens comes loose. Remove and discard the OEM light plug and bulb.
2. Use a black marker and mark the lens top where you see a tip that the aluminum reflector is mounted onto.
3. Remove black plastic insert by placing a screwdriver in the bottom slot between the lens and the black plastic insert.
4. Now remove the aluminum reflector found inside each one and discard.
5. Now cut the tip that was holding the reflector in place flush with the base it is protruding from, file if necessary.
6. Now drill carefully, a ¼” hole where you marked the reflector tip location above in line #2.
7. Use any plastic that is from a household plastic container (like chip dip or similar) and cut pieces to fit the opening shown. Apply silicone sealant around the openings and apply the plastic pieces you’ve cut to cover them. This will keep the inside of the lens cleaner. Set aside and allow to cure.
8. Obtain a piece of 1/16” thick x 1” x 1 ½” Aluminum angle. From this piece you will cut 2 pieces and make them to the sizes noted in the pic. Radius the edges as shown for a tight fit in the lens, approx. a ¼ to 5/16 radius is needed. You will make a right and left hand set. By that I mean that if you stand the aluminum pieces up the same way, you’d have a radius on one that faces right and on the other it faces left.
9. Using the obtained LED’s noted trim the 3M tape away from the wires so that the tape left is perfectly flat. (You’ll notice that the tape on the LED is over the wires where they enter the LED causing a non flat condition. This must be flat for good adhesion.
10. Now wipe down the short surface (both sides) of the aluminum angle with alcohol to clean the surface, now take the “RED LED” and attach as shown in the pic to each piece of angle. Wires will be opposite the radius on both sides. Remember that you must have a right and left side, so by looking at one the other one will be an exact opposite hand.
11. Now attach the “YELLOW LED” to the opposite side of the RED LED with the wires being on the same side as the RED LED you’ve attached.
12. Yellow faces forward and red faces to the rear of the vehicle.
13. Now use some 180 or so grit sand paper and scuff up the top surface of each piece of aluminum angle. Once clean wipe with alcohol to clean.
14. Now using a piece of sand paper again, sand the inside top surface of the lens to roughen up the surface so a good bond will be had when putting the tow together.
15. Clean out lens with compressed air and wipe clean with alcohol where you sanded.
16. Mix up some 5 minute epoxy, once mixed apply to top of aluminum angle and carefully insert into lens. The flat long edge will rest against the rear inside portion of the lens. Wedge the aluminum angle in place (once properly positioned) to cure. Do this on both lens and set aside for 15 minutes minimum.
17. Once the epoxy has set up, use a needle nose plier to fish the wires through the hole you drilled in step #6. Once through, apply a little silicone to seal the opening around the wires and allow to cure.
18. Now inset the black plastic insert back into the lens.
19. Now connect the wires from lens LED’s to the wires from the mirror housing. From the lens, twist the 2 wires with a red band (+ positive) on them together, them do the same with the remaining 2 (- negative) wires. Using the wires from the lens leds test the connection before you attach. If they light with the turn signal on, your good to go. If not, reverse the wires and they should work. Do this on each side ! Connect the wires to the OEM wires using butt splice connectors (Red in color). Before you insert the wires to crimp, put some Dielectric Grease in the butt splice connector, makes them weather proof for life.
20. Now reinstall lens onto the bottom of the mirror, each side in the reverse manner they were removed, replace the screws and your done. Now when you signal a turn, you’ll be sure to be seen !!!!!!!!!!!!!
