Rear spoiler completely ripped away from Envoy while driving!

(04 Envoy XL) Any help would be appreciated with this strange situation. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else on here but if so, please speak up!

While driving down the highway, the rear spoiler (top spoiler that also houses the 3rd brake light) completely ripped itself from the truck from strong winds taking the 3rd light with it. It was crushed by traffic behind us. It appears that 3M tape was keeping this attached to the vehicle along with a mount on each side of the truck.

What is the correct name for this assembly (including brake light)? And what will be needed to install this piece? I talked to a service mgr and he gave me a quote of $650.00 to put a new one on. That took me by surprise to be honest. Any help is appreciated.

That sucks! I would say try local salvage yards to find a replacement instead of a dealer

I looked the part up neighbor. It was 200+ and it needs to be painted. guess what appears to be black plastic is painted. However 650 is a bit high.
part number 88979645 list at 288.00 molding, upper reveal

I hope it's not too common. I have an extra spoiler connected to mine, putting more "RIP OFF" pressure on it.

BUC NASTY, I've been trying to get that answer for a while now. My wife was driving! I was nowhere to be seen. I'm taking her word at this moment.

Thanks for all of the information. I'll start checking the yards.

Yeah. I've seen a few EXTs with that top brake light housing popping off. Majority being the 06 models. . *Knocks on wood* hope it doesn't happen to mine.
