Engine swap

I have a 02 4.2 Envoy 258,000 miles on it, thinking about replacing it with a 5.3. Any problems? What should I look for. Thanks

Do you already have an engine readily available, or is the engine dead in yours?

It might just be easier to sell your current vehicle and buy a V8 variant.

I had an 04 envoy that I sold a year ago with 300,000 and was still running strong when I sold it to get my 5.3 Saab 97x....so they can last a very long time. As far as the swap goes......It would probably be cheaper and easier to buy one that already has a v8 in it unless you have a v8 donor truck, because you'll need engine, harness, computer and matching bcm, motor mounts fuse block, ect, ect. I bought my 05 97x with 122,000 miles with a rod knock for $800 complete and I drove it onto the trailer to bring it home. Then I was able to just drop in a gen 3 iron block and was done, no headaches as far as getting everything to work together. Now just this last weekend I swapped my 5.3 that I put in last year for a cammed 6.0.
