Motor mount replace

I’m getting ready to replace both front motor mounts on our 05 envoy xl 4.2 4wd. I’ve been doing a little research and have been reading that with a 4wd im going to need to remove the cv axle in order to replace the motor mount. Has anyone been able to do it without remove the axel? I was also wondering about jacking up the motor, is the oil pan the place to jack it up?

Anytime you put a jack under the oil or transmission pan, make sure to put a block of wood between the jack and the pan. This prevents the jack from punching a hole through the pan!
I find a piece of 2 x 10 works well.

Motor Mounts

You can swap the mounts without pulling the axles. it's a difficult job and I did need to grind down the length of the passenger side mount to slip it in place. Makes a HUGE difference and worth the hassle. Lots of great video's out there to help.
