Use your head here...

I started working for Firestone monday of this week and quit today... Say a FWD car comes in and ONLY wants two new tires on it. They require you to put the new tires on the back of the car and put the old ones on the front of the car?! I told the manager that that was the craziest thing I have ever heard. So basically if someone can only afford two tires and the other two have like 3/32 of tread they want you to put/keep the bad ones on the front... I do not agree with this what so ever...They also have the dumbest people running the show there lol. The managers/service writers have NO automotive background. I dont know how there in business.

The customer is always right.

However, if that's the way they tell you to do it...why worry about it? Your paycheck is the same regardless of where you install them.

Peoples saftey is my top priority when working on other peoples cars... I am not going to let someone drive off in the rain or snow like that.

Well, the best tires ALWAYS go to the back anyways.

You guys are out of your minds if you would rather drive a FWD car with bald tires on the front and new ones on the back lol.

If I was trying to get traction up a steep hill in my neighborhood, and was in a FWD Honda, then sure, I would put the BEST tires up front to get traction to get going. The problem arises that in most snow/ice driving people are not going 5 Mph uphill everywhere they go.

With that being said once people get up to "Speed" it is harder for the REAR of the car to keep traction/control around corners, and turns. The front of the car will not fishtail/drift around the corner, but you can rest assured the rear will with 2/32" tires.

Who are we to question the "professionals"?

Convenience I guess. I was able to get a tire at 3:30 on a Sunday.

I think they put new tires on the rear because in bad weather you are more likely to oversteer if you have less traction in the rear. FWD, AWD, 4WD.

Doesn't matter, RWD, FWD, AWD, OR 4X4, the best tires go in the rear.

You can not steer the rear tires.
