trailblazer 1/4 mile?

i want to know what the 02' trailblazer I6 ran 1/4 mile stock, i think i saw 15.8 in motor trend but i wasnt sure. the reason i ask is becasue im going to race a v6 tiburon and i just wanna see if i will hang with him or not. I heard for the best launch i should not brake torque to bring up the rpms and leave the shifter in 3rd sound right? i'll try to race from a slow roll because i heard torque management kills power on launches from a stop. i was also woundering if u could powerbrake a trailblazer to get it to burnout because i know it wont chip the tires at wot

2002 TBs and Envoys run the 1/4 in about 16 seconds flat, around 85 mph. They do 0-60 in about 8 sec.
http://motortrend.com/roadtests/suv/...oy/index3.html

However this all depends on a ton of variables such as gear ratio, tire condition, aftermarket wheels or not, options, even weather. And of course how much you want to beat up on the drivetrain. With the torque mgmt I don't know if doing a brake stand will help things or not. The key seems to be a rolling start.

The only time I ever did a stoplight race w/ my Envoy I gave it a little gas to get rolling and then stomped on it. It didn't do anything dramatic until the rpms got over 3500. The punk in an older, riced-out Civic next to me (more show than go in this case) didn't stand a chance. He was racing everybody he pulled up to and when I finally got next to him after a few light changes I thought 'what the heck, why not?'

Don't expect too much to happen until the tach needle arcs past 3500--after that you'll be moving pretty good. I have no idea if a 'standing burnout' is possible; haven't tried.

PS - According to the collection of 0-60 times at the site below:
2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V-6 0-60: 7.1 1/4: 15.60

The times come from various mags, but indiv. sources are not listed.

well i knw the TB can do some burn outs, not amazing ones but some good ones... The first time i tried it the differential locked so only one tire was screeching.... if you have the nokia multimedia player then take a look at this vid. We did put a bit of water on the ground just to get less traction and it was quite a good burnout...

this was before ANY mods, stone cold stock!

I've tried to power brake my tb a few times, but it has never worked unless there is something (water or gravel) to break the traction at first. I have never found it possible on normal, dry road surfaces. Probably a good thing since there's barley any point in doing one.

Im running mine next year when test and tune opens at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois...I have every mod, but the stage 2 jet chip and 180degree thermostat...I hope to run a flat 15 sec 1/4 mile...it feels like a 15.4 now, when i do it im running with stock wheels, no system, premium fuel (1/4 tank), cold motor, removing right headlight for better air to K&N filter, lowering kit, belltech sway bar, tbs, stage 2 jet chip, thermostat, royal purple oils, jet shift kit.

You may be a little optimistic about running 15 seconds flat. I have seen several posted timeslips of TB's with similar mods running the 15.4-15.6 ETs. I have logged quite a few "illegal" 15.6's with the Escort version of the G-Tech.

As far as the Tiburon, I would be careful racing anything that is 1/2 my vehicle weight and probably 1/3 my drag coefficient. Just my

My Grand Am could take him

My Trailblazer wouldn't break below 16 seconds I don't think.
